Matthew S. Demey, DVM, joined the team right after graduating from Michigan State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2000. In 2004, Dr. Demey joined SHVH as a partner in the business, and as of 2017 became the sole owner as Dr.'s Ley and Mullen retired.
Dr. Demey has developed a special interest in surgery over the years, particularly laparoscopy and orthopedics. Dr. Demey is a certified TPLO surgeon and performs this procedure on a regular basis. This is a procedure performed for a torn ACL in a dog’s knee. Dr. Demey has extensive experience with different methods of fracture repair and advanced soft tissue surgery as well.
Dr. Demey also volunteers his time providing veterinary care for different species of raptors with the Raptor Education Foundation. He also donates his time and expertise to teach orthopedic surgery to the veterinarians at Amici Cannis Veterinary Hospital in Cotacachi, Ecuador. Amici Cannis is a non-profit veterinary hospital providing quality veterinary care for the local community and its surrounding indigenous villages. Dr. Demey, his son Cole, and dog Bill all enjoy the outdoor activities that Colorado has to offer!
