With the holidays fast approaching, many of you may be making out-of-town travel plans to visit friends and loved ones. As you book your tickets or reserve your rental car, we hope that you are also planning ahead for pet boarding as well.

Make Your Pet Boarding Reservations Now

Pet boarding kennels can fill up faster than you might think, and if you want to use the pet kennel or boarding facility of your choice it’s best to prepare now. Thanksgiving is sneaking right up, and the Christmas holiday is not far behind it. Many boarding facilities in the greater-Denver area are already accepting reservations, and it’s likely that the premier travel dates are filling up fast.

If you already have a boarding facility you use, it’s best to call them now to make a reservation. Likewise, if you’ve already made a reservation, it is wise to call and confirm that reservation before the big day arrives.

If you don’t have a pet boarding facility in mind, it’s time to start looking. You don’t want to be stuck with the last place to have an opening. For tips on selecting the right boarding facility for your pet, we recommend taking a look at The Humane Society of the United States website for more information.

Getting Your Pet Ready to Board

It should come as no surprise that any reputable pet boarding facility requires your pet to be current on his or her vaccinations prior to boarding. But did you also know that your pet will need to receive those vaccinations at least a week prior to his or her stay in order for them to be effective?

If your pet isn’t current on his or her preventatives, call for an appointment now. And, just as boarding facilities fill up as the holidays approach, so do appointments for vaccinations. The sooner you call, the sooner we can bring your pet’s vaccinations current.

If possible, it’s also recommended that you take your pet to sniff out his or her home away from home before the big day arrives. Letting your pet become familiar with the facility’s smells and staff will help alleviate your pet’s stress when the big stay arrives. This visit will also give you a chance to chat with the staff about your pet’s individual needs and to discuss any medications he or she may be taking.

If you have any other questions about pet boarding, or if you need to make an appointment to bring your pet current on his or her vaccinations, please don’t hesitate to call us.
