Veterinary Technician
Hi, my name is Patricia Simpson, and I am a Certified Veterinary Technician at Seven Hills Veterinary Hospital, Inc. I am passionate about providing high-quality, low-stress care — especially for feline patients — and helping every animal feel safe and understood during their visit.
Personal Hobbies and Interests
Outside of work, I stay very involved in animal welfare — fostering neonatal kittens and volunteering with spay and neuter clinics to help reduce pet overpopulation and give vulnerable animals a better start in life here in Aurora, CO. At home I am kept very busy by quite a household of pets! I have six cats: Isis, a 17-year-old white long-haired female; Stewart, a 6-year-old orange tabby with asthma; Goblin, a 3-year-old tripod orange tabby; Bruce, a 2-year-old grey long-haired male with cerebellar hypoplasia; Weeble, a 9-month-old orange tabby also with cerebellar hypoplasia; and Dulce, a 9-month-old calico. I also share my home with two reptiles — Gus the bearded dragon and Hank the box turtle.
Favorite Part of My Job
My favourite part of this job is working with cats. I have spent many years caring for feline patients, and I truly enjoy helping them feel safe and comfortable during their veterinary visits. Cats often need a little extra patience and understanding, and it is incredibly rewarding to help them receive the care they need while reducing stress for both them and their owners.
Why I Chose This Profession
I chose veterinary medicine because I have always loved animals and wanted to dedicate my career to helping them. Over time, I discovered a special connection with cats and found that I really enjoy working with their unique personalities and needs. Becoming a veterinary technician allowed me to combine my passion for animal care with hands-on medical work that genuinely improves their health and well-being.
Education
I completed the Veterinary Technician Programme at Pima Medical Institute in 2020.
Professional Background
I am a Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT) with extensive experience in feline-focused practices and animal welfare organisations. Much of my career has been dedicated to caring for cats, including patients with special medical needs. I am also a proud Fear Free Certified Professional, and my background in feline-focused hospitals and shelters has given me a strong foundation in low-stress handling, patient care, and supporting both cats and their owners during veterinary visits.
Work History
My career has been built around feline-focused practice and animal welfare. I have worked as a Veterinary Technician at Aurora Cat Hospital in Denver, and served as an Animal Care Team Member and volunteer at both the Cat Care Society and the Dumb Friends League (now Humane Colorado) in Denver, before joining Seven Hills Veterinary Hospital, Inc.
