Highlights from Seven Hills Veterinary Hospital

Dear fur friends and the humans who love them,

Life has been fur-frenzied around Seven Hills Veterinary Hospital this year, but we wanted to take some time to acknowledge a few of the year’s most memorable highlights, including the addition of our talented, caring new doctors.

Top 10 2014 Highlights

  •  In January, we received our AAHA re-certification, an organization that sets the bar in excellence and veterinary care. Only 15% of veterinary clinics receive this prestigious certification.
  •  In April, we were proud to participate in the 9-Pet Check, a yearly community event that helps to support low-income pet owners in getting nose-to-tail exams and rabies shots for their pets.
  • Battle of the vet starsmission statement to: “Seven Hills Veterinary Hospital commits to providing superior service and medical care to our clients and patients 24-hours a day.” We hope you like the new statement. We feel it reflects our focus on providing stellar services and accessibility 24/7!
  •  We were especially excited to add new DVMs to our team this year, Tressa Magnone, DVM and Charity Corning, DVM. We hope you have had a chance to welcome them.
  •  Team 7Hills rose to the challenge in the 3rd Annual Battle of the Vet Hospital Stars, a great fundraiser to benefit Pet Aid Colorado.
  •  But, the fun didn’t stop there – your bold and energetic Seven Hills team also competed in the Insane Inflatable 5K and demonstrated our team spirit!
  •  You might even say we’re gluttons for punishment… we took on this year’s Blacklight Run too.
  •  9PetCheckclass info on Facebook!)
  •  Seven Hills Veterinary Hospital was thrilled and honored to be recognized by the City of Aurora and received a Business Recognition Award. Thank you, wonderful community!
  •  Our very own Dr. Mullen participated in Spay Panama’s spay and neuter clinic, a mission dedicated to improving the welfare of less fortunate animals and ending pet homelessness in Panama.

Last but certainly not least, we congratulated two staff members on the birth of their babies–Matt and one of our receptionists. We love seeing our Seven Hills family grow and mentoring theDr Matt Demey's baby next generation of pet lovers and, dare we hope, veterinarians-to-be.

We are certainly proud to be a part of this community and serve such an awesome array of companion animals and their families. We hope your year in review has provided you with the same sense of fulfillment, gratitude, and joy.

As you prepare for your end-of-year festivities, we know your pet companions will feel extra special and included with a few homemade pet treats! Enjoy these tasty recipes, and as always, we are grateful for you and your pets.

Martha Stewart’s Paw Print Dog Treats

1/2 cup brewer’s yeast

2 teaspoons salt

3 tablespoons canola oil

1 1/2 cups homemade or store-bought low-sodium chicken stock

Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Line 2 baking sheets with parchment. Combine flour, wheat germ, yeast, and salt in a large bowl. Place canola oil in a large bowl. Add flour mixture to oil in 3 additions, alternating with 1 cup stock; mix until combined.

Knead dough on a lightly floured surface for 2 minutes (dough will be sticky). Roll out dough to 1/4-inch thickness. Cut out rounds using a 2-inch fluted cutter. Transfer to baking sheets. Make an indentation toward the bottom of 1 circle using your thumb, then press dough to make an arch of 4 small circles on top of the thumbprint using the tip of your pinky. Repeat with remaining rounds. Freeze for 15 minutes. Bake for 20 minutes, rotating sheets and lightly brushing with remaining 1/2 cup chicken stock halfway through. Turn oven off, and let stand in oven for 40 minutes. Makes two dozen cookies.
